Miss Amanda has over 40 years experience with the Montessori method. Her parents founded Big City Montessori School in San Francisco in 1980. It was here she gained hands on training in every role, from janitor to director. She has a devoted and long-tenured team of AMI teachers on staff.
Following the Montessori method of experiential learning, these books offer step-by-step intuitive instruction. Children can choose to repeat a skill lesson or learn many language rules in one sitting. Progressing at their own pace cultivates self-discipline, builds on their inherent curiosity to learn and helps foster a lifelong love of reading.
Miss Amanda grew up with dyslexia and would later learn her children were also dyslexic. Knowing children’s brains develop the most rapidly up to age 5, she created her book series being mindful of how learning differences often pose obstacles that impede subsequent stages of development if not overcome.
