Amanda Riccetti is the Head Teacher and Owner of Big City Montessori School in San Francisco, California. Founded by her parents, the school gave Amanda the opportunity to observe from an early age the benefits of a joyful learning environment, where children have freedom while being guided by devoted teachers.
As a child, Amanda struggled with the traditional learning process. Later in life, she discovered it was because she had a learning difference: dyslexia, a condition her two children were also diagnosed with. Dyslexia is the most common learning difference that causes children to struggle in school and is characterized by difficulties with processing words into meaningful information. Amanda learned to identify dyslexia in children who struggled to visually recognize lowercase letters and who did not understand the relationship between a letter and the sound that letter made.
Having taken that lesson to heart, the Reading with Miss Amanda series brings her innovative Montessori school curriculum directly to you! A child who masters these skills early in their educational journey is better prepared to avoid the frustrations and struggles that Amanda experienced growing up.
